John Kayongo

Born and raised in Nairobi (Kenya) with Ugandan roots, John Kayongo was a successful dancer from an early age. After his studies in Anthropology, he had the unique opportunity to come to the Netherlands to study Modern dance at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam.

Studio LionPaw

In 2006 John founded dance school Studio LionPaw in Utrecht. He has been enthusiastically teaching African dance for many years now and is known for his drive and willpower to let others share his energy. The stories about African rituals accompanying the dances give the dance lessons an extra dimension.

In addition, John gives workshops in African dance to schools, companies and institutions. He tells stories and organizes cultural trips to Uganda.
